The IAU Basic Education Department traces its humble beginnings back to the 1995-1996 school year when just a dozen kindergarten pupils were learning their ABCs in a small classroom tucked away in a discreet part of what was then known as the Indiana School of Aeronautics campus. Since that time, the institution has undergone significant growth and transformation.
What started as one kindergarten class has evolved into a complete basic education institution, now situated on a one-hectare campus. Initially, the facilities included only a few blackboards and toys; today, the campus is fully equipped with modern amenities. These include air-conditioned classrooms, state-of-the-art laboratories, an audio-visual room, a library, a medical and dental clinic, a science laboratory, a computer laboratory, a full-sized home activity center, a swimming pool, a football field, and a gymnasium.
The institution takes great pride in its history of challenges and accomplishments. It honors the contributions of its faculty and administration members, both past and present, and is especially proud of its alumni, who have embarked on successful journeys in their respective fields.
Among the many milestones achieved in such a relatively short time, the Indiana Basic Education Department cherishes the establishment of the 300-seat chapel dedicated to its Patroness, St. Therese of the Child Jesus. The St. Therese Chapel, located at the heart of the campus, stands as a constant reminder of the institution’s commitment to Christ-centered education. It reflects the humble yet profound teachings and virtues of the Little Flower from Lisieux, which guide all who walk through these hallowed halls.
