Miss IAU makes a grand ‘silvery’ comeback

It has been 16 years since Ms. Vanessa Leyva was crowned Miss Indiana Aerospace University in 2002. Now that IAU has reached its monumental silver anniversary, the Aerospace community could not any more wait for the much-awaited long overdue comeback of the most prestigious pageant of the school. Female Aerospacers from the different colleges underwent thorough preparation. First, aspiring beauty queens were screened by a committee spearheaded by the Students of Airline Management of IAU (SAMI), a departmental student-organization of the College of Airline Management. Of the many who applied, only 12 made it to the list. Next, they were given workshops in etiquette and personality development conducted by Professor Edgar Taghoy.  Immersion activities were also providedso as to boost their confidence and interpersonal skills. Foremost was their modern vintage photo shoot at Bon Ace Fashion Tools last January 28 and a sponsor visit in February 19. These ‘beauty-and-brains’ ladies also got to share their blessings through a feeding program with the youthof the House of Dreams last February 11. On the 23rd of February 2018, the day that the candidates had all been waiting for, was the Coronation Night. Cheers and banners were all over the university’s gymnasium in support of the different candidates. Although it was a gloomy weather that day,the candidates shined more than ever in their sportswear competition, evening gown parade, and the invigorating Q & A. The lucky ace of the night who was crowned Miss IAU 2018 is no other than Ms. Chessa L. Cuyos, a third year student of Bachelor of Science in Airline Management. The 1st Runner Up is Ms. Michelene R. Diaz, from the College of Tourism and Travel Management; 2nd Runner Up, Ms. Mary Mae A. Pino from the College of Airline Management;3rd Runner Up, Ms. Mooza M. Saeed from the College of Aviation Technology and 4th Runner Up, Ms. Wahini Moana T. Begin from the College of Airline Management. These ladies proved that beauty is not everything. More importantly, it is the goodness of your heart that will radiate the greatest. The pageant was hosted by television and social media personality, Mr. Benedict Salise. Among the judges of Miss IAU 2018 were: Dr. Michael John Busa, Mr. Albert Catamco, Mr. Rene Delrio, Ms. AriezPercuelles, Ms. Jasmine Apor and Ms. Bianca Willemsen.
